Singers
Don’t read music? That’s OK. All we ask is that you have a desire to sing and attend rehearsals every Tuesday (NOTE THE CHANGE) evening.
Recruitment takes place during the first month of each season: September for the Fall/Winter season and January for the Spring season.
While we have no auditions, we do have voice placement — prospective members should arrive at their first rehearsal at 6:15pm so they can be placed in sections that best suit their voices.
For more information, please contact us via our online feedback form or leave us a message at 585.234.4441.

Chorus structure
The singers are divided into four sections: high sopranos (S1), low sopranos (S2), high altos (A1) and low altos (A2). Section placement for new members takes place as they arrive during recruitment period (the first month of each season). Each section has a leader to whom singers may turn with any chorus-related issues.
Each rehearsal is run by the Music Director and the Principal Accompanist. You can “meet” them now by reading their biographies.
The chorus is run by the Board of Directors that is approved by chorus members. There are also several committees that all members are encouraged to join. Our current committees are: Music Selection, Fundraising, Public Relations, Retreat Planning, Concert Production (with a Concert Attire subcommittee), and Social Activities.

Rehearsals
Where: Downtown United Presbyterian Church, 121 N Fitzhugh St, Rochester, NY
When: Tuesdays (NOTE THE CHANGE) 6:30–9pm
The Fall/Winter season runs from September to December. The Spring season starts in January and ends in May or June. Both seasons end with a major concert.
Mid-season, we hold a rehearsal retreat, usually an overnight, out-of-town event. Also around the same time, each section holds a sectional rehearsal. The retreat and sectionals are as important as the regular rehearsals and all singers are strongly encouraged to attend.
Shortly before each major concert, we hold dress and technical rehearsals. It is critical that all performers and volunteers attend both of them.

Members’ handbook
When you join, you will receive a hardcopy booklet that should answer most of your questions. If you’d like to have those questions answered before you join us, download a PDF version of the handbook. To view and print it, you will need Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free from www.adobe.com.
Please view — and print — the detailed schedule of events for the current season.
